Web Presence for Indian Advertisers… A Close Look

More often we conclude that online market has yet not developed in full fledge in India, one of the promising developing countries around the world. Though we started accepting Internet beneficiaries late but still grown up at a higher speed that possibly never thought of. Again some basic instincts of Third World country impinge on us saying there is not sufficient computer access and internet penetration in many more cities in India. Even computer literacy is still under construction stage. Forget about doing online transaction, we are afraid of providing our simple personal details on the Web even. In most of the cases consumers end up checking email, browsing some well known websites, chatting and forming Internet community for friendly conversation etc. More than information gathering and using it for all of our regular needs we focus on communication part of it. Then where do we stand against developed economies in terms of even and liberal format of business transactions on Web.

Few questions automatically arise over here:

Why restricted or limited use of Internet for our commercial activities?
• Don’t we have minimum reliability on web and its resources?
• How could we analyze us a global citizen if globalization does not happen to us in the real global arena, The WWW?
• As a consumer or web user what prevents us doing simple research on product reviews, comparison and
profitable analysis?
• Is there any way we can build up the trust of online efficacy in bringing out best and suitable collections, and then required transactions etc.?
• Can we convince the company’s marketing authority on their need of sound web presence so that their
websites can routinely work for them?
• In spite of having all the ingredients of skilled workers, research scholars and advanced studies what stops us having unique presence on online?
• Though there are efforts coming from young generation on web use and dependency but still there are not much involvement of Government and Private players voting for Online spread. Why?
• Apart from mere discussion and expert reviews are any there hot ideas that can really drive the surge of real time use of Internet?

There are any more issues like this which refresh my concern for our Indian companies who still have enough patience to try out and examine their presence online for their profit making business. All business ideas, great efforts just end up in a physical boundary which is not sought after at all.

How do we react to Online?

In terms of Advertisers, Media and their business are vibrant here specifically with digital and print media. Right from creating awareness, educating customers, promoting product display, special offer announcement, customer retention and management every dint of activities generally end up with advertisement in newspaper, outdoor and TV, Radio channels. Reason is that People has to visit the physical market, need to touch the product, hear it from the seller, judging the number of footprints in the shop, feel it’s worthiness, taking time to analyze it, comparing with competitors and finally if every votes are positive, sales can be concluded. This is the typical Indian mentality of having fear of getting cheated, deprived and become looser with faulty dealings.

Fortunately there are few companies who do not have alternatives of offline marketing and advertising their business process. But for sure the number of such solely online dependent organizations is hand picked. More often one can find medium and small scale companies having at least a website efficiently designed by web designer experts that includes basic features of company’s product, company over view and a contact us Page.

On the whole apart from some typical branding pattern of Banner ad display in popular websites, newsletter, emails, those online advertisers do not want to cross the border of thinking one step ahead.

In fact I would see such effort quite similar to conventional promotional strategy. But there are hell lots of thing which we, the Indian advertisers either do not know or avoid due to lack of knowledge which is pathetic in view. We, Indians do the work for our clients abroad, a type of outsourcing activities for their web promotions. They are getting the fruits of high sales revenue with out harming social, economical and ecological balance of their countries. Agreed they have online customers ready for it. We do not have it yet. And we do not try also to find out the reason or sample solution cases by case. A Great wonder! We do not do for our native companies. Reason: Either those companies are reluctant to apply the easiest methods or we, the web marketer do not know how to approach them, any one.

In my next post I would be talking about the possibilities those companies can really think of and give it a second thought if necessary. The agenda would be how to drag customers to your business most naturally? How could you convince them easily for your business stuffs?

Till then I would be interested if any one could answer the queries I have asked for in this post.
